- What do students learn in this department? See the course information
-
We started as the Dept. of Multimedia Systems Engineering in 2003 and changed the name to the Dept. of Embedded-Systems Engineering in 2010 due to demand from society.
As its name suggests, we mainly focus on embedded systems, and students learn the basics of programming, such as C and JAVA. Based on these basics, they will learn semiconductor chip control, hardware control, manufacturing, application development, networking, image processing, etc.
This opportunity is not readily available to undergraduate students and can be a sufficient strength in the workplace.

- How are the department/classroom conditions?
-
As you know, Incheon National University moved to a new campus in Songdo in September 2009.
Thanks to this, all of our department facilities are in excellent condition.
Each grade will be assigned 1 classroom, and each student will be provided with a desk, chair, and PC.
This cannot be found in any other department, and it is a great help in studying.
In university, many students wander around during breaks because they don't have a place to study, but in our department, they don't have to worry about that.
Students can continue studying in their seats even after the class is over.
Imagine studying in the comfort of your own place just like you did in middle and high school.
-
- What kind of job will students have after graduation?
-
Two main career types are available after graduation: software and hardware.
In software, students usually develop software programs, while in hardware, they design and build the circuits of devices.
Recently, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of software jobs, but a number of other fields are becoming increasingly popular. The graduates of our department work in various IT companies and research centers.
They may be involved in the development of the latest smartphones at large companies such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, develop precision semiconductor equipment at companies such as Hanmi Semiconductor, or research new solutions at companies such as Naver, Daum, Samsung SDS, LG CNS, and SK C&C.
SMEs conduct research and development on a broader range of products in our daily lives, including security systems such as CCTV cameras, navigation systems, mobile communication systems, and high-tech devices such as semiconductor manufacturing equipment. In addition to these companies, if you are interested in research, you can also work at specialized national research institutes such as the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and the Electronic Components Research Institute.
According to a survey, only 40% of university graduates in Korea get a job that corresponds to their major.
However, our graduates have a nearly 100% correspondence rate, meaning there are plenty of career opportunities for our students to utilize their major knowledge.
